There are only 5 ingredients in this delicious sloppy joe recipe!
Ground Beef – This is a staple in my freezer so I always have it on hand.
Onion – I use yellow onion but feel free to use whatever you’ve got on hand.
Ketchup – I mean with 4 kids I always have this in the fridge and pantry.
Yellow Mustard – Yellow mustard works best but you can substitute dijon if that’s what you have!
Chicken Gumbo Soup – This is the magic in this recipe. I almost always have a few cans on it on hand in my pantry as this Sloppy Joe with Chicken Gumbo Soup recipe is a regular in my meal planning.

Method
I love simply recipes and this one couldn’t get easier.
Grab a skillet and brown your ground beef. Meanwhile, dice the onion and then add to the skillet.
Cook the ground beef and onions until well combined.
Reduce heat to medium-low and add the ketchup, mustard and chicken gumbo soup. Stir until well combined and heat through.
Serve on hamburger buns with sliced cheese and pickles as optional toppings!

Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 small yellow onion diced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 Tablespoons yellow mustard
- 2 10.5 ounce cans condensed chicken gumbo soup
- 6 Hamburger Buns for serving
- Optional Toppings: sliced cheese and pickle slices
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef.
- Add the onion and continue cooking until the onion is soft and the meat is well browned.
- Reduce the heat to medium low.
- Add the ketchup, chicken gumbo soup, and mustard and stir until well combined and heated through.
- Serve on hamburger buns with pickles and sliced cheese if preferred.
