After I finished making my No Bake 4 Ingredient Peanut Butter Chocolate cookies, I had some leftover peanut butter baking chips. I wondered what else I could make with them until I spotted the carton of heavy cream I had bought for another recipe that still had some left. Of course, peanut butter hot chocolate!

It’s cold here in Minnesota and my kids are always begging me to make them hot chocolate, especially after an afternoon of sledding or snowman building! They loved this peanut butter hot chocolate for a fun twist on our usual hot chocolate!

Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate Ingredients

This recipe makes a very rich and creamy hot chocolate!

Heavy Cream – Using heavy cream to make hot chocolate makes it extra thick and creamy and this is the way I prefer my hot chocolate. However, if you prefer a less creamy version reduce the heavy cream and use more milk.

Milk – Any percent milk will work for this.

A cup of milk, a cup of chocolate chips and aquater cup of peanut butter chips are all you need to make peanut butter hot chocolate!

Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips – For best results, use a good brand of chocolate chips!

Peanut Butter Baking Chips – You can find these in most grocery stores right by the chocolate chips.

Sugar – Because this recipe calls for semi-sweet chocolate chips, I added a little sugar to sweeten it more.

Making Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate

This is a fairly simple recipe to make but I prefer to make it on the stovetop rather than in the microwave.

Grab a medium-sized saucepan and add all your ingredients starting with only 1 tablespoon of sugar.

Over low heat, slowly stir constantly until all of the chips are thoroughly melted. It should be a rich creamy chocolate color when it’s fully melted.

Taste and add additional sugar if you prefer a sweeter hot chocolate.

Pour into your favorite mug and top with whipped cream!
