How to Make It
Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Mix: In a stand mixer, cream the butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add in the egg and vanilla; mix well. Add cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix until fully combined.

Bake: Scoop dough with a large ice cream scoop and place on prepared sheets. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the centers are set. Let cool completely before decorating.
Tip: Don’t overbake! The centers should stay soft for that Crumbl-style chewy bite. Once cool, frost generously — it makes the texture perfect.

Frosting: Beat softened butter, powdered sugar, cocoa, and vanilla until smooth. In a separate bowl, microwave chocolate chips and heavy cream until melted; stir smooth and let cool. Combine ganache with frosting and whip until fluffy.

Assemble: Pipe frosting onto cooled cookies, sprinkle with crushed Oreos, and top each with a gummy worm.
Hint: Let the cookies cool completely before frosting. Warm cookies will melt the ganache.

Test Substitutions
- Butter: Use margarine for dairy-free.
- Flour: Substitute 1:1 gluten-free baking flour for a gluten-free version.
- Gummy worms: Skip or replace with chocolate shavings for a more elegant dessert.
Variations
- Go spooky: Use candy eyeballs or gummy bugs for Halloween-themed cookies that kids will love.
- Birthday party magic: Swap the worms for colorful sprinkles or mini candy toppers to match your celebration.
- Deluxe: Drizzle extra ganache on top and sprinkle mini M&Ms for party fun.
