Instructions
To make the blood orange simple syrup, squeeze 4-5 blood oranges. You will need about 1/2 cup of freshly squeezed blood orange juice.
Combine the freshly squeezed blood orange juice and 1/2 cup sugar in a small saucepan.
Heat over medium heat until just boiling, stirring occasionally.
Once the sugar is completely dissolved, continue to cook for 2-3 more minutes, then remove from the heat.
Allow the simple syrup to cool completely. You can either use it immediately or store it in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks. in the fridge.
To make the blood orange gin fizz, combine the gin, blood orange simple syrup, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.
Add the ice to the cocktail shaker and shake again.
Strain the mixture into a cocktail glass.
Top with club soda, garnish with a fresh blood orange slice and serve!
